I rather liked this detail from Rebecca MacKinnon’s posting of her time in Laos:
This guy on the left had spent a long time living and working in San Diego. His family now owns a fish restaurant along the Mekong river and makes decent money. He carries photos of his girlfriend and of The Buddha around his neck in a flash memory stick. Cool idea.

I’ve just been around the slightly less exotic Hong Kong Electronics Fair (last day; I’m beat) and I’ve seen an awful lot of USB flash drives there, most of them spouting logos and being given away. I think we should all have one around our neck with all our important stuff aboard. Some medical companies are betting on it. Call it the UbiquitouSB.
