I have had to winkle out hundreds of duplicate JPG files after my XP profile disaster, and found DoubleKiller (freeware from Big Bang enterprises) more than equal to the task. Simple, efficient and fast,
DoubleKiller searches single or multiple folders/partitions for identical files. Depending on the settings the files’ names, sizes, dates and/or CRC32-checksums (which represent the content of the files) are compared with each other….When the search is finished a list containing all double files found is displayed and you can select the files which should be deleted or moved.
It’s also, and crucially, easy to select groups of files, which is the real timesaver. I’d recommend it over several shareware titles which claim to do more but don’t. DoubleKiller is written by German Jan Schlueter.
Thanks for the recommendation! I could use such a program, and appreciate you sharing your experience
